National Women's Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation; Transitions; and BiLateral Safety Corridor Coaliation
The National Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation (NWCAVE), the “Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition” (BSCC), and “Transitions” have come together to sponsor the Southwest Conference Against Trafficking. The Conference targets the modern day slavery of sex-trafficking of young girls in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Nevada, as well as Mexico, Central America, and Latin America.
Slavery is a harsh reality for over 300,000 of OUR OWN US children each year who find themselves trapped in a life of tears as they are bought and sold for sex like objects, and forced to prostitute themselves night after night in order to survive. During the conference, communities will learn to come together to raise awareness of these children of the night. (No one should ever say; “I didn’t know this was happening.”) Communities who work together can better predict, prevent, and protect these sexually enslaved children and advocate for better laws and stronger penalties for the offenders.
The conference has confirmed over 50 Keynote and Breakout Workshop nationally known speakers, with training for first responders, law enforcement, educators, and the faith-based community. However, the conference is geared to education of the public on the breadth and depth of this heinous crime “in our own backyard”. There literally will be something for everyone (including teens and college students)!
