On May 2nd, communities across America will come together to participate in The National Day of Prayer. This government-proclaimed day is offered to all Americans, regardless of religion, to celebrate their faith through prayer. The 2013 theme is PRAY FOR AMERICA which is based on Matthew 12:21: “In His name the nations will put their hope.”

Fontana will be observing this special day with a Community Prayer Breakfast. Please join us for an ecumenical morning of prayer, patriotism and music with a keynote address by Pastor Vince D’Acchioli and special musical performances by recording artist Tim Kepler. We are honored to have San Bernardino County Supervisor Janice Rutherford as our special guest and MC. The event is being hosted and made possible by sponsors throughout Fontana including Fontana Nissan, Fontana Rotary Club, Rotolo Chevrolet and Water of Life Community Church. Reservations are required by April 24th, by phone to (909) 854-8054 or by email to FontanaPrayerBreakfast@gmail.com.

The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
